THIS FRIDAY! ACRL/NY First Year Experience Discussion Group Meeting: Assessment Ideas for First Year Library Instruction Classes – November 18, 2016

Join us for an engaging discussion on exploring different types of assessment for First Year Library Instruction Classes. Whether you teach credit bearing Information Literacy classes or one-shot sessions, our meeting will focus on talking about different ways we can assess our students.

Professor Jesus Sanabria (Bronx Community College, CUNY) will start the meeting by discussing the use of a?clickersa? and Turning Point software in assessing students in Library Instruction classes. Professor Sanabria and his former colleague Professor Julia Pollack developed Aan interactive PowerPoint presentation using a?clickersa? and using special software known as Turning Point. Turning Point has several advantages. It collects and stores data, while providing the function to generate reports in multiple ways. It veers away from traditional paper and pencil surveys. The questions are centered on current information literacy standards and can be easily modified around your class goals.

We encourage you to come with questions and ideas. AWe want this to be an open, inviting, and engaging dialogue.
