The ACRL/NY Mentoring Program is excited to welcome applications for the 2026/2027 academic year. Applications are accepted from July 9, 2026 to August 7, 2026. To learn more about the Mentoring Program, see the program's description at https://acrlny.org/mentoring-program

Please complete this form if you are interested in participating as a mentee. A mentee can be a Library & Information Science student, someone with less than five (5) years of professional library experience, or someone working in a different library setting (e.g. public libraries) looking to switch to academic libraries. Mentees do not need to be based in the New York Metropolitan Area to participate. This form is open to ACRL/NY members and non-members, but mentees must become ACRL/NY members upon acceptance into the program.

A mentee is someone who may:

  • Benefit from help navigating professional library settings;
  • Seek career and job search advice;
  • Have interest in connecting with a new colleague;
  • Benefit from feedback on how to progress in the field, how to explore other areas of librarianship, or how to advance in their current role.

Mentee expectations and opportunities:

  • Nine-month commitment (Sept. 2026-June 2027)
  • Monthly email, in-person, or virtual check-ins with your mentor (with monthly prompts sent by the Program Coordinators)
  • Opportunity for ACRL/NY Symposium in-person meet-up in December (optional)
  • Membership with ACRL/NY upon acceptance into the program

To apply to be a mentee in the ACRL/NY Mentoring Program, please click the "Register" button to complete the form.
