Ensuring uninterrupted access to library e-resources requires both proactive monitoring and effective problem-solving. Using a healthcare metaphor, Dr. Kanu Nagra will present a practical approach to managing e-resource access issues by examining their causes, recognizing common symptoms, and developing an effective treatment plan. Participants will learn how to diagnose the root causes of access interruptions—including technical issues, vendor-related complications, organizational challenges, user errors, and other unexpected factors—and implement appropriate treatment strategies.
The session will also emphasize the importance of clear communication with stakeholders, systematic documentation, and maintaining a treatment plan that captures diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes to support future troubleshooting and continuous improvement.
Following this session, participants will be able to:
- Develop effective strategies to manage and resolve e-resource access interruptions while minimizing disruptions to library services
- Design a customized, structured treatment plan for their library to efficiently diagnose and troubleshoot unexpected e-resource access issues, supported by clear communication with stakeholders and comprehensive documentation for future reference
- Create a regular e-resource “health check” plan to monitor resource performance, identify recurring patterns for early detection and intervention on the basis of familiar patterns and exceptions
