Tony White, the new director at Purchase College, SUNY, will be in conversation with Dianne Vanderlip, the emeritus curator of Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum, and former director of the Moore College of Art Gallery from 1968-1978. In 1973 she coined the phrase artists books.
In 1973 Vanderlip was a young curator at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia. She curated an exhibition titled “artists books” and artists adopted this phrase and it has been used for the last 50 years to describe and define a contemporary art genre: artists books.
