The Student Success Librarian is responsible for leading and implementing programs and services that contribute to student success. The incumbent will help advance the River Campus Libraries’ (RCL) learning, and research strategies by developing projects and initiatives that support experiential learning (e.g., Karp Library Fellows, CEILAM), first-generation students, historically underrepresented students, international students, and students in the primary writing requirement program. Through such work, and in coordination with the Director, Learning Initiatives, the librarian will create meaningful connections with students and student groups and showcase the value of the library to the student experience.
The incumbent will also work closely with library colleagues and student support units (e.g., Office of Minority Student Affairs, International Services Office, Office of Disability Resources, Career Center, Student Association,) across the university to understand, anticipate, and fulfill student research and learning needs, develop collaborative and holistic programs and supports, and strengthen connections to the library and its services.
Coordinate experiential learning programs and initiatives
• Coordinate the Karp Library Fellows (KLF) program
• Coordinate Career Exploration in Libraries & Mentorship (CEILAM) Program
• Lead the development and continuous improvement CEILAM and KLF programs
Plan and develop student success initiatives
• Collaborate with library colleagues, campus student support units, and student groups to identify needs and develop sustainable and high-impact initiatives
• Support peer-to-peer learning and innovative approaches to idea exploration and skill development by empowering students to develop and lead initiatives
• Create multimodal information resources and asynchronous learning activities, and contribute relevant content for RCL online resources
• Develop assessment plans
Lead student success initiatives
• Lead and/or coordinate workshops, programs and events that support student success by connecting students with library services, collections, programs, spaces, and expertise
• Coordinate and support student-led workshops, programs, and events
• Assess initiatives to support continuous improvement
Instruction for information, data, and digital fluencies
• Work with first-year writing instructors to deliver high-impact library instruction
• Engage in collaborative conversations with library colleagues and writing program staff to optimize and make sustainable the library’s connection to the first-year writing program
• Participate in the assessment of library contributions to the writing program
• Communicate and translate key information about RCL and its services with assigned stakeholders, departments, units, and student groups
• Engage in targeted outreach and relationship building, maintaining current collaborations and cultivating new partnerships within RCL and across campus.
