Outreach Librarian – Sparkill, NY

The Lougheed Library seeks an Outreach Librarian, a motivated, creative, learning-centered, information professional who will maintain, promote, and expand library services programs to orient a wide variety of students toward strong information literacy skills and ensure that all students engage meaningfully with the Library early in their academic careers. The Outreach Librarian also oversees the Library’s marketing and messaging to promote library resources, services, and events on and off campus.

Duties & Responsibilities
-Create and conduct Information Literacy instruction in-person and/or online with an emphasis on non-discipline specific introductory level instruction.
-Collaborate with STAC faculty and develop and run workshops, orientation activities and outreach programs with HEOP, Pathways, First Year Seminar, and other schools.
-Foster partnerships with Academic Services and Athletics staff to ensure Library’s role in support of student success.
-Assist with collection management and collaborate with STAC faculty to manage course reserves materials.
-Oversees the social media and marketing strategy for the Library (i.e Library’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, etc.)
-Promote library services and STAC community events using SpringShare applications and the social media as needed to support outreach events.
-Maintain records in LibCal of all instruction statistics for reporting and administer qualitative and quantitative assessment projects to enhance information and digital literacy services.
-Maintain daily reference desk tracking statistics.
-Maintain general online instruction webpages and guides.
-Train and supervise work-study students
-Maintain current awareness of national standards, best practices and emerging trends related to information literacy, instructional design and educational technology.
-Participate in reference service, collection development, and liaison duties.
-Actively participate in professional development funded and supported by the Library
-Some evening and weekend hours as needed
-Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
-MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program
-Three years experience in an academic library, including reference and instructional services
-Familiarity with and ability to use interlibrary loan services (OCLC) for an academic community

-Strong public service orientation and reference skills
-Strong communication and collaboration skills
-Excellent teaching skills and an ability to work with faculty and students in an instructional setting
-Broad working knowledge of traditional and online library and information resources for the academic community
-Knowledge of and ability to use WMS, the library’s integrated library system
-Experience using SpringShare products such as LibGuides, LibWizard, and LibCal
-Experience with creating digital promotional images with platforms such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva
-Ability to work independently and in collaboration with College staff and faculty
-Personal characteristics, which will promote effective communication and collegial relations within the library, on campus, and with library users
