Creating and Managing your Professional Online Identity: Tips for Success
Description: Whether you are looking for a job, preparing for tenure or reappointment, or attempting to secure a promotion, don't ignore your online identity. It can play a significant role in your career. This presentation will provide some simple tips on how to professionalize your existing online identity and how to build up a professional online presence using freely available e-portfolios, profiles and social media sites. Please come with your career-related questions for a discussion after the presentation.
Bio: Susanne Markgren is the Digital Services Librarian at Purchase College, State University of New York. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Manhattanville College. She is on the executive board of ACRL/NY; has written articles, book reviews, and chapters for a variety of publications; has co-authored the “Career Q&A with the Library Career People” column for the past seven years; and is a career consultant for LIScareer.com.
