Substitute Science Librarian – Lehman College (CUNY) – New York, NY


Reporting to the Head of Reference, the Science Librarian serves as liaison to four departments in Lehmana��s School of Natural and Social Sciences: Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Earth, Environmental, and Geospacial Sciences; Physics and Astronomy.

The Science Librarian contributes innovative library instruction, research consultations, and manages print, electronic, and multimedia resources in consultation with discipline faculty to support the curriculum and STEM research initiatives. The incumbent provides support in scholarly publishing and data management to faculty a�� and serves as advisor to faculty-undergraduate student research projects.

The candidate is responsible for outreach and marketing library services by partnering with Science faculty, conducting workshops, developing research guides and tutorials in specialized STEM subject areas. The individual also serves on library committees and will develop an active research agenda.


Mastera��s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution. Second Mastera��s degree required, preferably in a science-related field, for appointment to Assistant Professor. At least two yearsa�� experience in an academic or special library providing STEM-related reference and instructional presentations recommended.

Experience in navigating emerging technologies, mobile applications, and familiarity with assessment methods. Quantitative literacy skills preferred. Interest in scholarly communications and open educational resources welcomed. Candidate must be committed to serving diverse user groups and possess a strong service ethic.
