ACRL/NY 2015 Symposium Scholarships for Students & Librarians

Would you like to join a vibrant community of practice with academic-library colleagues from the Greater New York Metropolitan area? If so, we encourage you to apply for one of the three ACRL/NY Scholarship Programs offered by the Greater New York Metropolitan Area Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries.

Student Scholarship – For students currently enrolled in graduate degree programs in library/information science who are considering a career in academic librarianship (4 awardees).

Early Career Librarian Scholarship – For an academic librarian who has been practicing less than 5 years following receipt of a Master’s degree in library/information science (1 awardee).

Veteran Librarian Scholarship – For an academic librarian who been in practice at least 5 years following receipt of a Master’s degree in library/information science (1 awardee).

The ACRL/NY Symposium Scholarship awardees receive a waiver of registration fees for the organization’s upcoming 2015 symposium, “Social Responsibility, Democracy, Education, and Professionalism: Supporting Core Values in Academic and Research Librarianship,” to take place at Baruch College’s Vertical Campus on Friday, December 4, 2015. Featuring speakers, poster sessions, discussion and networking opportunities, this year’s event will focus on the ways librarianship’s core professional values support professional practice in academic libraries. Breakfast and lunch at the event are included.

Scholarship recipients are expected to attend the full-day symposium and publish a short article on their impressions of the day in the ACRL/NY newsletterConnections.

Application submission deadline: Friday, October 16, 2015
Scholarship recipients will be notified on or before: Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
