In support of Yale Law School’s outstanding legal scholarship and lawyer training, the Lillian Goldman Law Library is dedicated to acquiring and preserving a superb collection of resources in all formats, furnishing access to information wherever it exists, providing the most highly competent assistance to use information resources and maintaining a welcoming, comfortable facility. The Lillian Goldman Law Library is located within the heart of the Yale Law School complex, providing the Law School community with ready access to one of the world’s finest collections of printed legal materials. These collections are complemented by access to a growing array of online sources as well as the strong interdisciplinary collections housed nearby at more than twenty-two other campus libraries, including Sterling Memorial Library and Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Utilizing these resources combined with our excellent, service-oriented staff, we strive daily to be the best academic law library in the world.
Reporting to the Head of Reference within the Reference and Instructional Services Department, the Reference Librarian at the Lillian Goldman Law Library is responsible for significant research, reference, and instructional tasks to further the excellent service of the Anglo-American and foreign and international reference team in a dynamic and challenging environment.A� Provides excellent reference service to the members of the Yale Law School community, Yale University community, and others. Participate in teaching members of the law school community about legal research. There may also be opportunities to participate in collection development.

3.A�A�A�A�A�A� A�Participates in the development of print and electronic research guides, video tutorials, and other technology-based tools to educate and assist patrons in conducting legal research and using library resources.
4.A�A�A�A�A�A� Participates in developing the Librarya��s online presence via the web site and other electronic means.
5.A�A�A�A�A�A� Participates in library planning committees, working groups, and task forces within the Law Library and the University Library.

A�Required Education and Experience
Mastera��s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited Library school. In selected instances, a post-graduate degree in a related discipline may be required or substituted for an MLS. Appointment to this rank is limited to two years at which time it is expected that the individual will develop necessary requirements to meet expectations of performance at the Librarian 2 level.
1.A�A�A�A�A�A� J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent), in addition to MLS.A� Appointment to the rank of Librarian 2 requires at least two years of professional experience in a law library and professional accomplishments appropriate to the rank.
2.A�A�A�A�A�A� Demonstrated interest in providing reference service in a legal setting and in developing and teaching legal research in an academic or legal setting.A� Aptitude exploring, learning, applying, and teaching educational tools and technologies.
3.A�A�A�A�A�A� Ability to function in a collegial, diverse, fast-paced teamwork-oriented environment with a diverse patron base which emphasizes customer service and delivery of exemplary library reference and research services.
4.A�A�A�A�A�A� Strong communication and interpersonal skills.A� Self-motivated, superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills.A� Strong analytical ability, creativity, and flexibility.A�A� Ability to think independently, solve problems, and develop cost effective strategies.
5.A�A�A�A�A�A� Demonstrated ability to work collegially and cooperatively within and across organizations.A� Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to a conclusion in a timely fashion; ability to coordinate, lead, and direct such projects.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills
1.A�A�A�A�A�A� Working knowledge of a foreign language.A� Knowledge and experience with foreign, comparative, and international law resources.
2.A�A�A�A�A�A� Two yearsa�� experience as a public services, instructional, and/or reference librarian in a law library.
3.A�A�A�A�A�A� Some supervisory experience in current or previous employment.
4.A�A�A�A�A�A� Demonstrated use of innovative, instructional technologies in the classroom.
5.A�A�A�A�A�A� Experience with Drupal or similar content management system.
