Reference and Outreach Librarian (Adjunct 20 hours)

Reporting to the Dean of Libraries and working closely with the Coordinator of Reference Services, the Reference/ Outreach Librarian provides reference and research assistance (online and in-person).

Publicize and promote the AU Library as a learning and knowledge creation hub. The candidate will develop programs in support of student success. This will include planning events, and outreach using social media in conjunction with relevant library committees; assist with program planning, coordination, and representation of library at campus events. Assist with targeted efforts to reach diverse users with particular attention to first-year students (freshmen, new transfers, adult learners returning to school).


Required: Applicants must have experience providing reference in an academic library.

• MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution

• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

• Evidence of both professional initiative and flexibility.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with a diverse population.

Highly desirable: social media acumen, programming planning and coordination expertise. Background in Music, and Performing Arts.
