The Princeton University Library seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative, and forward-thinking archival professional to create, enhance, and manage descriptive data for Public Policy Papers collections and manage large-scale digitization projects. Processing personal papers and organizational records related to 20th and 21st-century developments in the history of politics, civil liberties, diplomacy, and economics will constitute the majority of position’s workload. The archivist will also manage large-scale digitization projects focused on Public Policy Collections, but other collection areas may be assigned. This position will be expected to produce finding aids and other access tools for new collections and to revise legacy description to meet modern standards. The position will also participate in the Mudd Library reference rotation, supervise student workers, and participate in library-wide committees. This is a proposed 5 year, full-time project position with the possibility of renewal each year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and funding.Essential Qualifications
• Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program with a concentration in archives management, or advanced degree in an allied discipline combined with relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience arranging and describing archival collections with a focus on modern manuscript collections of varying sizes and formats.
• Knowledge of and experience with relevant descriptive standards for archival collections (DACS, EAD, EAC-CPF).
• Familiarity with current developments in processing procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
• Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively, in a dynamic environment and with a diverse group of staff and patrons.
• Knowledge and awareness of current trends in the digitization of archival material for access and preservation.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and a commitment to creativity and continuous learning, including comfort and ability to learn new technologies.
