Part Time Scholarly Communications Librarian, Immediate opening
New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY (Westchester)
Reports To: Assistant Director, Information Management
Lead the production of the Faculty Author Bibliography in conjunction with colleagues at Touro University.
Participate in the implementation of an institutional repository system.
Market and promote the use of the institutional repository both by contributing faculty and end users.
Develop librarian staff awareness and knowledge of digital scholarship practices.
Facilitate researchers in meeting the requirements of the NIH Public Access Policy
Consult on intellectual property issues related to data sets and publications.
Maintain a current awareness of scholarly communication models, trends and issues.
Participate in Library Writing Center activities.
Lead special projects and serve as a member of project teams within and outside of the library.
Serve as a member of the Reference team with liaison responsibilities.
Exhibit continuous improvement in knowledge and skills.
Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school.
Enthusiasm and knowledge related to scholarly communications issues and trends.
Ability to work in a team environment and build working relationships with campus colleagues.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well with a diverse population of faculty, students, and academic colleagues.
Ability to initiate and manage projects effectively, with attention to detail.
Ability to deliver in-person and online reference services.
Strong technical skills and ability to test and apply technologies to library projects.
Desire and ability to continuously improve skills and knowledge level, including seeking AHIP accreditation.
Reporting: This position reports to the Assistant Director, Information Management.
Schedule: Flexible 14 hours per week with possible full-time in the future if desired.
