LIM College – Where Business Meets Fashion is currently seeking candidates for the position of Part-Time Saturday Librarian.
LIM College educates students for success in the global business of fashion and its many related industries. Located in midtown Manhattan – the fashion capital of the world – and devoted exclusively to the study of business and fashion, LIM College fosters a unique connection between real-world experience and academic study in business principles. Undergraduate students may major in Fashion Merchandising, International Business, Management, Marketing or Visual Merchandising. At the graduate level, LIM College offers an MBA program as well as MPS programs in Fashion Marketing, Fashion Merchandising & Retail Management, Global Fashion Supply Chain Management, and Visual Merchandising.
The Part-time Saturday Librarian assists students and faculty with print and digital information resources during Saturday hours. He/she is responsible for providing reference services for patrons using both standard paper sources and online.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
PROVIDES AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FOLLOWING SERVICE FUNCTIONS:
a�?Analyzing patron requests to determine needed information and assisting in furnishing and locating that information.
a�?Teaching patrons to search for information using research databases and other information sources.
a�?Checking books in and out of the library using the SIRSI library system.
a�?Explaining the use of library facilities, equipment and services.
a�?Offering and relating information about library policies.
a�?Assembling and arranging materials for displays.
PROVIDES AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FOLLOWING NON SERVICE FUNCTIONS:
a�?Keeping records of all library transactions.
a�?Assisting students with copy machines and printers.
a�?Weeding books, magazines and newspapers as needed.
a�?Responding to patron complaints and taking action as necessary.
a�?Compiling lists of new materials, such as books, periodicals and DVDs as needed.
a�?Assisting in Open House programs as needed.
a�?All reference requests are handled efficiently and in a professional and courteous manner.
a�?Telephone calls are handled in a professional manner.
a�?Good communication skills are always employed.
a�?A professional and confident image is displayed.
REQUIREMENTS: The person selected will have the following qualifications:
Minimum Required Qualifications:
a�?Mastera��s degree in the field of Library Science or equivalent
a�?Knowledge of Library systems (SIRSI), software and operations
a�?A minimum of one (1) to two (2) yearsa�� experience in an academic library environment
a�?Proficient in reference delivery
a�?Able to work well within a small library setting as well as work independently
a�?Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills
