Part-Time Reference Librarian — College of Staten Island, CUNY — New York, NY

The College of Staten Island, a senior college of the City University of New York, seeks an energetic, highly motivated part-time Reference Librarian for weekday daytime hours for ten (10) hours per week. The successful candidate must have a strong public service orientation and an ability to respond to the reference needs of both students and faculty. The candidate will provide onsite and remote reference services, create research guides using LibGuides, teach users to identify, locate and interpret sources of information, and assist with library projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program. Demonstrated experience in a library reference setting.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Extensive knowledge of various types of print, non-print and media resources. Ability to effectively train students/faculty on the use of specialized equipment and/or technology. Ability to keep abreast of trends and emerging media technology. Must be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy.
