Overnight Supervisor (2 Part-Time Positions) – 1503588

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor’s Degree. In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, a combination of directly related full time experience and/or education totaling four years may be considered. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Library work experience. Previous security related experience. Academic library experience. Experience dealing with College or University student populations.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Overnight Supervisor will be part of a team of employees responsible for managing the Library Central Reading Room. The incumbent will be expected to resolve patron, security and emergency issues/situations/problems that occur during overnight hours. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

a�?Work under the direction of the Overnight Manager and may supervise student assistants.

a�?Ensure that the Library operation functions smoothly and that library patrons are safe and sound.

a�?Work closely with evening/weekend and day shift staff.

a�?Provide general public service Reference Desk. Use general library reference tools to refer inquiries thru email to proper subject specialist for answer.

a�?Provide quality service to patrons.

a�?Patrol all public service areas regularly and handle problem patron behavior appropriately.

a�?Report to supervisor of any abnormal situation within facility.

a�?Assist with special projects related to Public Service.

a�?Report found problems with library on-line systems and databases.

a�?Other duties as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:

This is a part time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Weekend work may be required for this position.
