Overnight Supervisor (2 Part-Time Positions) – 1503588

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor’s Degree. In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, a combination of directly related full time experience and/or education totaling four years may be considered. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Library work experience. Previous security related experience. Academic library experience. Experience dealing with College or University student populations.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Overnight Supervisor will be part of a team of employees responsible for managing the Library Central Reading Room. The incumbent will be expected to resolve patron, security and emergency issues/situations/problems that occur during overnight hours. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

•Work under the direction of the Overnight Manager and may supervise student assistants.

•Ensure that the Library operation functions smoothly and that library patrons are safe and sound.

•Work closely with evening/weekend and day shift staff.

•Provide general public service Reference Desk. Use general library reference tools to refer inquiries thru email to proper subject specialist for answer.

•Provide quality service to patrons.

•Patrol all public service areas regularly and handle problem patron behavior appropriately.

•Report to supervisor of any abnormal situation within facility.

•Assist with special projects related to Public Service.

•Report found problems with library on-line systems and databases.

•Other duties as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:

This is a part time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Weekend work may be required for this position.
