Open Resources Librarian / STEM Liaison – Lehman College, CUNY – New York, NY


Reporting to Head of Reference, the Open Resources Librarian-STEM Liaison is responsible for coordinating the Librarya��s initiative of supporting discipline faculty to create Open Textbooks as replacement for existing course materials. This involves organization of training workshops and materials; providing guidance on open resources and copyright; promoting best practices on accessibility, archiving, assessment, attribution, and resource sharing. The Open Resources Librarian closely coordinates efforts with CUNYa��s Office of Library Servicesa�� OER and Scholarly Communications Librarians.

Individual also serves as STEM Liaison to five departments in Lehmana��s School of Natural and Social Sciences: Biological Sciences; Chemistry; Earth, Environmental, and Geospacial Sciences; Mathematics; Physics and Astronomy. STEM Liaison contributions include innovative library instruction, research consultations, and selecting print, electronic, and multimedia resources in consultation with discipline faculty to support the curriculum and research initiatives. The candidate is responsible for outreach and marketing library services by partnering with Science faculty, conducting workshops, developing Research Guides and tutorials in specialized STEM subject areas. Further, the individual provides general Reference services, sits on library committees, and will develop an active research agenda.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor: Supports a college library through providing in-depth consultation with students and faculty and collaboration for the ongoing improvement of instructional programs and practices. Pursues an active scholarly agenda, performs supervisory duties, and participates in college-and university-wide programs and committees as assigned.

All titles require a Master’s in Library Science (MLS), Master’s in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution. For appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, a second graduate degree is required, preferably in a science-related field. At least two yearsa�� experience in an academic or special library providing STEM-related reference and instructional presentations recommended. Also required is the ability to work with others for the good of the institution.

Knowledge of Open Educational Resources and scholarly communications necessary. Experience in navigating educational technologies, and familiarity with data management and assessment methods helpful. Candidate must be committed to serving diverse user groups and possess a strong service ethic.
