Job Description
The Online and Outreach Services Librarian is responsible for developing and implementing services to support the online and outreach programs of the University and to recommend resources. The Librarian serves as the liaison to campus departments and units involved in developing and offering online and off-campus courses and programs. The Librarian promotes and facilitates access to Library resources and services. Major duties and responsibilities include: Provides support to online and off campus students and faculty teaching the courses; Ensures that the instruction and research needs of students are met; Collaborates with librarians to develop services and identify and recommend relevant resources; Services as key contact for library policy and procedure questions related online and off campus matters; Develops and mange online reference services, including e-mail, chat, text, and social media; Teaches online and off campus information literacy classes and conducts worksho ps for colleagues on teaching online; Designs and implements guides and tutorials and other instructional materials to promote use of online services and resources;

Maintains the web content for online and off campus student and faculty services and resources; Organizes, leads and completes projects in a team environment, meeting deadlines; Participates in the Reference and Research Services; Department’s on-campus reference service schedule, including rotating evening and weekend services; Participates in collection development activities by recommending electronic resources related to online and off campus courses and programs; Serves as librarian liaison to one or more departments or units; Keeps informed of professional trends and practices; Participates in local, state, and national professional activities; Keeps informed of University and Library policies and procedures; Services on Library and University committees;

Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to Associate Dean of Library Services for Public Services.
Tenure Track position.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
• BA/BS from an accredited college or university
• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library program
• Reading competence in one foreign language is desirable
• Second master’s degree in another subject area is desirable

Experience/Skills:
• Three (3) years’ experience in the public services area in an academic library
• Knowledge and use of current technology to deliver resources and services, including social media
• Design and implement print and online instructional and tutorial materials
• Design and teach online information literacy classes and other workshops
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, communication skills
• Initiative, flexibility, and creativity
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues
• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and growth.

Salary Range Commensurate with qualification and experience
Anticipated Start Date September 1, 2013 Negotiable
