METRO Meetups: Outreach and Advocacy in Libraries – Wed Nov 8, 2017, 12pm-2pm

We will discuss the toolkit “Libraries Need Friends” by Sally Gardener Reed, United for Libraries (a division of the ALA). For more information, please read here. We will identify some of the advantages of having a specific “Friends of the Library” for your library. Many public libraries have their own a?Friendsa? to raise money but many colleges are unable to do this because it might compete/conflict with their College’s foundation arm.

A “Friends of the Library” may be a great opportunity to gain more library advocates and more support (and funding) from your target audience.
