Library Intern Program – Adelphi University – Garden City, NY

Are you a library school student who needs practical experience working in a dynamic academic library? Adelphi University is now accepting applications for its Library Intern program for the Spring 2015 semester..

The AU Library Internship program provides current library school students with hands-on experience in the reference and instruction areas of academic librarianship. Interns will work collaboratively with mentoring librarians at the Reference desk to provide users with research assistance and support librarians during instruction sessions in the classroom.

Other projects such as assisting with the writing of instructional content and the creation of Subject Research Guides (LibGuides), handouts or tutorials, may also be available as time permits.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Enrollment in a Master’s program in library or information services.This position includes coverage on Saturdays, 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. and weekday hours (flexible).

Preferred: Completion of courses or experience in reference and bibliographic sources, electronic resources, database searching, website development. Strong computer skills highly desirable.
