The Manager of Evening & Weekend Services – Library is an Access Services Librarian position and will manage the general administration and operations of the library services, interpreting and ensuring policy adherence and workflow coordination of the Paramus and Lyndhurst library locations for the evening and weekend hours. The position hours are 3:00PM – 11:00PM, Monday through Friday, during the academic calendar (shift may vary during intersession and summer); position is primarily based on the Paramus campus. Responsibilities will include providing schedule coordination, oversight and direction to ensure that evening and weekend services are on par with daytime services at all locations; supervising and evaluating evening and weekend staff to ensure the highest levels of patron service and accountability; making recommendations for service improvements; reserve processing and circulation services including evening e-reserves and interlibrary loan; compiling s tatistical data and preparing reports; managing and maintaining library stacks, managing access to media services; assisting library patrons with concerns related to library policies, procedures and services; handling emergency situations and reporting problems to designated staff and college public safety when necessary; serving as backup for reference if needed and performing special projects and duties as may be assigned.
Required: ALA-accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS or MLIS). Two years relevant professional supervisory and management experience (preferably in a library) required; experience in the education and/or unionized environment with a strong customer service orientation preferred; must have working knowledge of a multi-faceted integrated library system and experience working with computers and media equipment; must be a detail oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and networking basics; strong motivational skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students and others; excellent organizational and analytical skills plus exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; must be able to work with a diverse population.
