User Experience
The ACRL/NY User Experience (UX) Discussion Group is dedicated to fostering an ongoing discussion of issues relating to the study of User Experience amongst ACRL/NY members. In the context of libraries, “User Experience” deals with the many different ways a user interacts with the services and resources provided by academic libraries. User Experience traditionally relates to how users interact with electronic/web-based interfaces (web sites, library catalog, other electronic resources). We wish to extend this definition to other aspects of the Library. Topics relate to how the user experiences the library as “place” and “service”. Discussion topics include, but are not limited to, reference desk orientation, library service models, furniture design, signage content and design, branding, lighting, brochure and poster design, web site design, library jargon, and the analysis of user interfaces on the library catalog, LibGuides, chat reference, and other electronic resources.
